Introduction :
Marriage Statistics is one of the important components
of vital statistics and marriage phenomena is phenomenon
worth studying.
Marriage as demonstrated in records and official
documents is divided into three sections:
1-new Marriage
2-revocable- marriage
3-re-consideration marriage
- Type 1:
is the normal type, which is the start of matrimonial
life for the first time between two persons whom were
not linked together before marriage.
- Type 2: is about the return of matrimonial life that
had existed between the two and had ended in divorce.
- Type 3: The official record of the life of matrimonial
already exists between the two, including the customary
marriage.
The Type 2 and 3 represents approximately 10.7% of the
total marriages cases in the period from 1995-2005 and
as they were of a special nature and accompanied by
certain unusual circumstances therefore it is needed to
highlight on it by analysis and study.
In this report will highlight the reconsideration
marriage ,a registration of a marriage between a couple
in the same date it happened whatever is the duration in
order for the wife to have her legitimate rights.
The study will focus on the evolution of cases numbers
and also in terms of demographic variables as follows:
1- Evolution of the re-consideration cases during the
period from 1995-2005.
2- Reconsideration marriage among other types of
marriage.
3- Reconsideration marriage cases distributed as
follows:
A-nationality of the husband and wife.
B- Educational status of the husband.
C-age groups of the husband.
D- Residential area.
1-evolution of reconsideration cases during the
period from 1995-2005 :

The former
table shows :
There are three periods were reconsiderations cases
numbers changed during the mentioned period
First: from 1995 until 1997 rose the numbers of
reconsideration cases, in 1996 rose by 4.5% over 1995,
and then increased in 1997 by 7% from 1996.
Second: number decreased since 1998 until 2001
between 1.2% and 1.5% in each year from the other.
Third : from 2002 to 2005 number of cases rose
once again and reached the peak during the last two
years where the percentage change in the two years
reached 21.4% in 2004 than in 2003, and then to 13.8% in
2005 than in 2004.It may also conclude that there is an
increase in numbers in recent years compared with 1995.
2- Reconsideration marriage among other types of
marriage :

From The
former table we conclude the following:
- Ratio of reconsideration marriages between
6% in 2002, 9% in 1997, 2005.
- The number of new marriages represents
89.3% of the total number of marriages
during the period
From 1995-2005, while revocable marriage
represent 3.3%, while reconsideration
marriage represents 7.4%

The former table shows the following :
- 77.5% of the total Kuwaiti of reconsideration marriage
have ratified the marriage contracts during the period
from 1995-2005 compared with 22.5% of non-Kuwaitis.
- In return, we find that 12.5% of the Kuwaitis women
had ratified the state of marriage versus 87.5% of
non-Kuwaitis women during the same period.
3 (b) reconsideration marriage in terms of age groups

The former table shows the following:
- During the period of 1995-2005, we find that 23.1% of
the total cases were couples of the age of 25-29 years
and approaching this percentage the couples aged 20 - 24
years
by 22.5%, meaning that almost half of reconsideration
cases are in the age groups less than
29 years.
This may be due to a marriage outside the State who work
or study and then when returning these contracts gets
ratified.
But it also note that 18.8% of the cases were for the
spouses of the age group 45 years and above, which may
be for spouses living in remote areas or in the desert
who consider the documentation of the contracts is not
important in the traditions until the official need for
these contracts.

The former table shows
the following :
reconsideration on marriages that took taking place
outside the country, Represent the largest rate where it
reached 23.2%, while the number of reconsideration cases
converging in the governorates of Hawalli, Farwaniya and
Ahmadi and becomes less in the Assima and Jahra'a
governorates , reaching 18.9%, 18.3%, 18.0% respectively
of the total number of reconsideration during the period
from 1995-2005 and characterized by Assema governorate
who has low ratio of the number of cases reaching 9.2%.
3-(D) Reconsideration marriage according to the
educational status of the husband :
the period from 1995-2005, distributed according to the

The former
table shows the following :
- That 32.4% of the total reconsideration
cases the husband
owning an elementary degree or less in the
period from 1995 till 2005, and there were
18.7%, where the husband carries a degree
of secondary or less of the university ,
while 8.2% of the cases where the husband
carries a university degree and higher.
- Increasing number of reconsideration
which did not mention the level of
education during the years of the report,
where the overall percentage of 40.7% was
due to the lack of attention to the
registration of the educational status in
previous years in marriage contracts, but
it was corrected in the last two years.
Conclusion:
- It has been found from the report that
there are approximately 10.7% of marriages
that took place in the State of Kuwait are
reconsideration and revocable Marriages
sense that there is in every 100 marriages
are 11 cases of reconsideration and
revocable marriages .
- Kuwaitis representing approximately 77.5%
of these cases, 12.52% of Kuwaitis women.
- Most reconsideration cases are in the ages
under 29 years of age.
- Most of the cases took place outside the
country, reaching 23.2%, while converged in
Hawalli and Ahmadi governorates by almost
19% and slightly less frequently in the
Assima governorate.
Reconsideration cases rises when couples
are holding elementary degree or less and
decreases when the education status rises
due to their awareness of the importance of
documenting the marriage contract.
